Charles Leclerc was born Charles Marc Hervé Perceval Leclerc to Hervé Leclerc and Pascale in Monte Carlo, Monaco. Hervé Leclerc was a Formula 3 racing driver. His mother is a hairdresser. Charles was the couple’s second child, his brother, Lorenzo was born earlier.
2000 (14th October)
Charles’s brother, Arthur, was born to Hervé and Pascale at Monte Carlo, Monaco.
Charles attended the École de Fontvieille (Fontvieille Primary School) in Monaco.
Charles had a day off school because he felt ill and accompanied his father to the Brignoles Go-Kart track. He drove a kart for the first time that day and was hooked.
Leclerc began competitive karting. He won the French Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur (PACA) Championship.
Leclerc won the French Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur (PACA) Championship for the second time.
Charles attended the School Albert Premier De Monaco in Monaco.
Leclerc won the French Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur (PACA) Championship for the third time.
Charles moved up to KF3 class and won the Junior Monaco Kart Cup.
Competing in the KF3 class, Charles Leclerc won the KF3 World Cup and the ERDF Junior Kart Masters.
Leclerc attracted the attention of Nicolas Todt’s All Road Management and joined the team.
Leclerc moved up to KF2 and competed with the French ART team. He won the WSK Euro Series and came second in the KF2 European Championship and the CIK FIA under 18 World Championship.
Charles won the South Garda Winter cup. He came sixth in the European Championship and second in the World Championship behind Max Verstappen
Leclerc competed in the Formula Renault 2.0 Alps Championship, racing for Fortec Motorsports. He ended the season as runner up.
2014 (5th October)
Jules Bianchi, Leclerc’s close friend and godfather, crashed during the Japanese Grand Prix and sustained a serious brain trauma. He was put into an induced coma following surger.
Leclerc moved up to Formula Three racing. He competed for Van Amersfoort Racing in the European Championship finishing fourth.
2015 (17th July)
Jules Bianchi, Leclerc’s close friend and godfather, died from the injuries sustained when he crashed in the Japanese Grand Prix October 2014.
As a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, Leclerc acted as development driver for Haas F1 and Scuderia Ferrari.
Charles Leclerc moved up to Formula 2 for this year. He competed for Prema Racing and won the Championship.
2017 (20th June)
Charles Leclerc’s father, Hervé, died.
Charles Leclerc was signed by the Sauber F1 Team and competed in his first Formula One Championship. He finished thirteenth with 39 points.
Scuderia Ferrari signed Leclerc to replace Kimi Räikkönen with a four year contract. He ended the 2019 Championship in fourth place with 264 points.
Charles Leclerc began dating Charlotte Sine, an architecture student from Monaco.
Charles signed a deal with Giorgio Armani to promote their products.
In his second year with Ferrari, Leclerc courted controversy when he broke Covid-19 rules by socialising with friends. In a less successful year to the last, he finished eighth with 98 points.
Leclerc’s contract with Ferrari was extended to the end of the 2024 season. He was joined at Ferrari by Carlos Sainz Jr who replaced Sebastian Vettel. He finished the season in seventh place with 159 points.
Charles Leclerc started on pole position for the opening race of the season and went on to win the race.
