Ed Sheeran was born Edward Christopher to John and Imogen Sheeran at Halifax, West Yorkshire.
1995 (during)
Ed joined a local church choir.
1996 (Autumn)
Ed attended Rishworth School, Rishworth, near Halifax, Yorkshire.
2000 (around)
Ed learned to play the guitar after he was given a guitar by his uncle.
2003 (around)
Ed and his family moved to Framlingham, Suffolk. Ed was enrolled at Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham.
2004 (around)
Ed Sheeran was accepted by the National Youth Theatre in London. Members are able to audition for the National Youth Theatre productions.

Ed Sheeran recorded his first album ‘Spinning Man’ independently, by recording his music and burning it onto CDs.

Ed became a member of the British Youth Music Theatre in London.

Ed Sheeran appeared in the British Youth Music Theatre production of Frankenstein in Plymouth.

Ed studied Artist Development with Access to Music.

Sheeran moved to London and began playing at small venues.

Ed auditioned for the TV series ‘Britannia High’ but was not successful.

Ed played support for folk group Nizlopi in Norwich.

Ed Sheeran posted a video of his music with the online music company SB TV Global Ltd.

Ed began studying music at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, Surrey.

Ed Sheeran played in St Pancreas International Station.

Ed independently released another EP ‘No. 5 Collaborations Project’ featuring five different grime artists. The EP reached number 2 on the iTunes chart and number 46 on the UK album chart.
2011 (Spring)
Ed purchased a farm near Framlingham in Suffolk, UK.
2011 (April)
Ed Sheeran played four free show at the Barfly in Camden Town, London.
2011 (April)
Ed signed a recording contract with Asylum Records.

Ed Sheeran appeared on the TV show ‘Later … with Jools Holland’ and performed his upcoming single ‘The A Team’.
2011 (12th June)
Ed Sheeran released his first single ‘The A Team’ from the upcoming album ‘+’. It reached number 3 in the UK and number 9 in the US charts.
2011 (22nd June)
Ed Sheeran performed on the BBC Introducing Stage at the Glastonbury Festival.
2011 (26th August)
Ed Sheeran released his second single ‘You Need Me, I Don’t Need You’ from the upcoming album ‘+’. It reached number 4 in the UK.
2011 (9th September)
Ed Sheeran released his first studio album ‘+’ (plus). It reached number 1 in the UK and number 5 in the US.
2011 (11th November)
Ed Sheeran released his third single ‘Lego House’ from the album ‘+’ in the UK. It reached number 5 in the charts.

Ed Sheeran re-released the EP ‘Songs I Wrote With Amy’ featuring songs written by Ed and Amy Wadge.
2012 (during)
Ed Sheeran co-wrote Taylor Swift’s song ‘Everything Has Changed’ which featured on her album ‘Red’ and was released as a single in 2013. He also wrote two songs for One Direction’s album ‘Take Me Home’ including their single ‘Little Things’ which was released in December 2012 and reached number 1 in the UK and number 18 in the US.

A lawsuit was filed against Ed Sheeran after the heirs of the co-writer of Marvin Gaye’s ‘Let’s Get It On’ claimed that Ed had copied parts of the song.
