Wulfthryth married King Aethelred of Wessex .

First recorded instance of Wulfthryth witnessing a charter.

A son Aethelhelm, was born to Wulfthryth and King Aethelred.
869 (around)
A son, Aethelwold, was born to Wulfthryth and King Aethelred.
871 (22nd March)
Battle of Merton
Wulfthryth’s husband, King Aethelred was badly injured in this battle against the Vikings.
871 (23rd April)
King Aethelred, died from injuries sustained in the Battle of Merton. Wulfthryth’s two sons were considered too young to succeed and so Aethelred’s younger brother, Alfred became King.

Nothing is known of Wulfthryth after her husband died.
